Whilst cheap mass produced kids clothes are easy to find these days many parents feel under pressure to dress their kids in the brand name high fashion designer clothing to keep up with what their friends are wearing.
Unfortunately not everyone can afford to buy expensive clothes and the rate at which kids outgrow their clothes makes it even more expensive.
Here’s our tips on get the most value and still dressing your children in cool clothes:
1. Buy new and sell on
If you must buy the best clothes for your kids then think about selling it on after they’ve done with it. Second hand kids clothes can be sold at local sales or on sites like Ebay so you can recoup some of your expenditure when the kids get too big for the clothes.
2. Buy used
As kids can rapidly grow out of their clothing you’ll find a thriving market for second hand clothing (both on and off line) and items such as designer kids t shirts can often be found at a fraction of the new price.
3. Designer doesn’t have to mean expensive
Many high street and online kids clothing stores have great ranges of cool clothes at much lower prices than designer brands. There’s also many small designer kids clothing stores that offer cool and trendy clothes without the big brand name price tag.
4. Swap with friends
Many parents have more than one child and if you have friends with kids of different ages then you could pass you old clothes down to the younger children of friends and receive clothes from parents of older kids. Schools and playgroups could organise clothes swaps to renew your child’s wardrobe for next to nothing.
5. Design your own!
If you’re looking for something unique then try buying a plain t-shirt and customise it with fabric paints or dyes. Or create a design and have it professionally printed by an online garment printing company – you get a one off item of clothing that will be totally unique!
